The Future of Speaking -- David Meerman Scott Road Tests Google Glass

(by Tony D'Amelio - @DamelioNetwork) Like me, you've probably heard of Google Glass -- but I didn't know anyone in the speaking world who had one -- until last week.

DAVID MEERMAN SCOTT signed up for the Google Glass Explorer Program and was given the product to try last month. Scott, the Real-Time strategist who shows how to push the boundaries, wanted to test the boundaries of speaking. He worked for a week to set up his Google Glass and used it for two speeches last week. How did it go? What’s it mean for the future of speaking? Read David’s blog: Google Glass for Real-Time Public Speaking. It seems like technology is again poised to transform the way presenters interact with audiences.

The impact of wearable technology like Google Glass can be revolutionary and liberating for speaking. Imagine giving a speech – eyes on the audience, hands-free – while reading text or notes out of the corner of your right eye – or reading questions posted to your Twitter feed – or getting instant feedback analysis through a polling app? We're just beginning to get our arms around the possibilities.

By the way – here’s the reaction (below) to David’s presentation from one of the events last week. The audience was absolutely jazzed to have a chance to see how this new technology is used in a Real-Time setting.

"For our leadership conference, we needed someone who could kick off off the event with thought-provoking energy. David’s high-octane delivery grabbed the audience from the moment he stepped onto the stage, and didn't let go for 45 minutes. The care David took upfront to ensure the content of his presentation hit just the right note was evident as he masterfully weaved his knowledge of the digital media landscape with humor and imagery that captured the imagination of our attendees."
