Katty Kay Covers Campaign Trail

THE 2016 RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE

2016 is an unprecedented time in American politics.  KATTY KAY, the Washington-based BBC World News America anchor, will have a front row seat to the process.  She heads for the campaign trail next week to first cover the candidates in Iowa and then the other key primary states.  Katty will be on site for the political conventions in July and then follow the nominees during the final stretch — ending up in her anchor chair on election night as the results come in.  All the while, Katty will be reporting on the candidates and their positions — helping her viewers around the world separate campaign hype from political reality.

KATTY KAY – COVERING POLITICS FOR THE BBC

In the past week Katty created three pieces for broadcast on topics associated with the 2016 race for the White House:

A Primary Primer – U.S. Politics 101 –
The process of nominating candidates in the U.S. can be mind-boggling.  With Iowa and New Hampshire voters about to weigh in, Katty Kay created this piece that aired globally to explain how the political process works in America.

Ending Washington dysfunction –
The next President will step into a political environment that’s more dysfunctional than ever.  How can the important work of leading the country move forward?  Katty interviewed former Senators Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Trent Lott (R-MS) to discuss their new book, Crisis Point, which details the impact of gridlock in Washington politics and suggests solutions that will help government work again.

On the ISIS threat –
Former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel joined Katty Kay to discuss the threat of ISIS and the challenges the next President will face. The fight against the global terrorism threat requires some tough choices.  Secretary Hagel reveals some of the challenges and frustrations during his time at the Pentagon.

SPEAKING OF POLITICS

Katty Kay is a popular speaker who brings the latest news about American politics and global affairs to the lectern at conferences and events.  Being British and based in Washington, D.C., Katty has a unique perspective.  Her insights and observations are not only fresh — they’re refreshing.
